In the 1990’s, Otávio made numerous participatory artworks for the companies in the Iochpe-Maxxion Group. The installation “Open Hearts” (Corações Abertos, in Portuguese) was composed of messages of hope from the company’s employees to their families, written in heart-shaped cards.
Over ten thousand paper hearts colored in yellow, blue and green form a tree 5,6 meter high and 2,8 meter wide. A picture of the tree illustrated a season’s greetings card from 1991.
